Three Wishes…That Could Make All the Difference in Your 2011
I was asked by an agent the other day for my advice  on the top three things they should do to help make the New Year ahead more successful.  Talk about your loaded questions-right? …

It’s an often insane world we live in.  Calendars filled with what feels like 24/7 events and breakneck speed commitments.  It’s not easy to strike the balance, I know.  For some however, it’s all too easy to stop listening to that still small voice inside their head.  The result?  They short cut their integrity or short change themselves, their clients, their family and their goals.   That, my friend, really will wear you down and make you feel a little crazy.

So let’s do this.  What do you say, just for today we check in with our heart and our head and listen to intuition we were blessed with to move our lives in the right direction.  It’s a pretty amazing thing you know, when you give yourself permission to dream big, believe big and trust yourself – anything can happen.   Jonas Salk said it well, “Intuition will tell the thinking mind where to look next.”  Here are a few ways you can give it hand:

Slow down and listen. I know, I know, there’s too much to do!  It’s ok.  This is important stuff – so write down what you have to do today then prioritize, kick the unimportant stuff to the curb and delegate what someone else is better suited to do.  Then ask yourself what it is you want, really want and give you mind some time to help you come up with the answers.  And when faced with tough decisions both big and small, consider the word of Disney’s immortal Jiminy Cricket, “Let your conscience be your guide.”

Banish the Back-talk. You know what I’m talking about.  Those self-sabotaging thoughts that can sneak out of those deep seated places in your sub conscious and kick your positive mental attitude right in the teeth.   Look, there are enough negative forces in the OUTSIDE world waiting to pounce on our good mood or good fortune — that don’t need our help.  To get to the next level, you’ve got to banish the “not good enough, not ready, I can’t, I don’t deserve it” back talk.  You’ve got to be your own best cheerleader, and one of the best ways to do that is to fuel your self-talk with positive affirmations.  Think of it as a double-shot espresso for your mind and rocket fuel for your future!

Be flexible. Rigid thoughts and limited thinking are the enemies of intuition.  Life’s going to throw you curve balls, many of which are opportunities in disguise.  The rigid mind can’t wrap itself around the possibilities, can’t see the blessings hidden beneath the barriers.  Take what comes your way and flip it over, turn it around and loosen up a little.  Flexibility means you’ll have the ability to bob and weave when punches fly and jump on board when opportunities arise.

Test yourself. Let’s face it; listening to your intuition doesn’t come easy to everyone.  It can take practice and for some – proof. Test yourself.  Listen up when you’re the voice in your head or heart tells you to do something and then make note of the results.  Maybe it’s telling you to pick a certain book and read it.  Go for it – it may just contain the pearl of wisdom you’ve been searching for.  Maybe it’s telling you to take a class, learn a skill, kiss your kid or call your mother…listen to and learn from it.  Of course if it’s telling you to rob a bank or something…your inner voice might require a little filtering!

It’s a little metaphysical for some I’m sure, but absolutely everyone has had those “I can’t believe I did that” moments where they’ve NOT listened to their heart or the nagging voice inside and it’s led them awry or to make a mistake.  We’re lucky, we get to choose how we act or react to everything the world has to offer up each day.  Choose to listen to your intuition, your integrity and your conscience.  It’s been my experience they’re pretty good guides.

Good luck to you and remember, on the road to possibilities…Mindset Matters.
